Create A Niche Market
Niche Marketing is a strategy to incorporate into your current marketing plans. If you can create a Niche market it can save you time, money and effort down the road.
Niche marketing is all about Target Marketing. Here is what you need to do. Step by Step
1. ID your product, make sure you understand it inside and out. Make sure you are an expert in your field. Write out all the features and benefits of your product and service. Think about who it serves best. You can do this by taking a look at who you have done the most business with in the past. What are their characteristics? Are they married? Male or Female? A home owner? A Business owner? Do they have kids? How old are they? Write all this information out on a sheet of paper. Look for trends and patterns.
2. Where ? Are their places that this person hangs out, eats, take their kids. In other words what does this group of people have in common. Do you have a common interest with them? Do you get most of your business from referrals? Look at who is referring your customers. What do they have in common with the clients they are sending you? Look for any patterns and write them down. This is important. Be sure and write things down. Write down a list of 30 places that you can get in front of this particular person.
3. Now do your research! Take the information you found out with the patterns and trends and run a google search, determine if it is a local, regional or national trend. Find out all you can about this pattern and group. Spend some time, dig deep and gather some information. This will help you in two ways. You will be able to find your Niche client better and you will be able to speak to them from a common place and even change how you speak to them based on this information.
For example, lets say that 80% of your clients have a college degree and are male. What you could do is find out all you can about the alumni associations your area for major universities and you can market directly to your market that way. There are a ton of things that you could do like, host an alumni get together, buy an ad in their newsletter, buy a list of all the recent graduates to send direct mail, make a special offer or program with the alumni in mind that gives back to that particular school.
4. Now put something into action, just do something. Here is what i suggest. Make a list of all the ideas you can come up with. Make a goal of coming up with 30 ideas directly related to that Niche. The key is to pick one idea or thought and do it right away! You can even create ads, emails, marketing materials based completely around the data you collect. Get out there and become the known expert in your field with that group of people. Add value and treat them right and you will see some great things come of your time well spent.
